Supported by Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg, AIDS charity Born Free Africa has asked 23 fashion designers to create an exclusive ready-to-wear capsule collection for women and girls, available from April 23.

Since 2003, private charity Born Free Africa has been fighting to end the transmission of AIDS from mothers to children by December 2015. The charity has support from many partners including cosmetics brand M.A.C., and the organization has now asked 23 female fashion designers to collaborate on an exclusive capsule collection. Miuccia Prada, Victoria Beckham and Alberta Ferretti are among  the designers creating a series of ready-to-wear pieces and accessories for women and young girls using prints by Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu. The collection will go on sale exclusively on the Shopbop website on April 23, with pieces by Isabel Marant, Donatella Versace, Chloé Creative Director Clare Waight Keller, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo and Donna Karan. A philanthropic collection for both mommy and daughter.

Alexander Wang x H&M

April 13, 2014

The secret is finally out. During a party at the Coachella Music Festival in Palm Springs, H&M announced that their next designer collaboration will be with Alexander Wang. On November 6 this year, it is time to sharpen your elbows and put your game face on, as the Alexander Wang x H&M Collection will hit around 250 stores worldwide and online.

“I am honored to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations. The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to push boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle,” Alexander Wang said.

This is the first time that an American designer teams up with H&M, and the Alexander Wang x H&M collection will feature apparel and accessories for both men and women.

Typical for his irreverent approach, Alexander Wang will propose a new take on the lifestyle product offering that goes beyond fashion.

The New York based fashion designer’s eponymous brand has firmly established itself by perpetually evolving and re-contextualizing the urban uniform, since it was launched on the runway in 2007.  Alexander Wang’s core sensibility is a reflection on contrasts, blending seamlessly between the refined and the imperfect.  His collections have an unprecious outlook on fashion, and always reflect a sense of ease.

“Alexander Wang is one of the most important voices in fashion today. He understands exactly what people want to wear and does it with an energy and passion that’s infectious. It feels incredible to be collaborating with him this year,” said Margareta van den Bosch, H&M’s creative advisor.
